Straighten Your Child's Teeth

Wouldn’t you love for your child to have the perfect smile? Having crooked or crowded teeth can make children self-conscious about their smiles, and can also hinder their dental hygiene, leading to tooth decay or gum disease. Fortunately, there may be a discreet way to straighten your child’s teeth: clear aligners (Invisalign).

Clear aligners are a type of orthodontic treatment used to straighten teeth. They are transparent, removable plastic trays that are custom-made to fit over your teeth. The aligners gently shift the teeth into the desired position over time. Unlike traditional metal braces, which use brackets and wires, clear aligners are nearly invisible and can be taken out for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, making them a more discreet and convenient option for families.

We offer Invisalign aligner products designed specifically for kids such as the Invisalign First and the Invisalign Palatal Expander System. Many insurance plans cover some or all of the cost of aligner treatment, and flexible spending accounts (FSA) can also be used to offset the cost. If you’re interested in this treatment for your child, we’d be happy to schedule a consultation with you.

Common Questions About Clear Aligners:

Is there anything that needs to be done before getting clear aligners?

Before you get aligners, your child will have a cleaning and a consultation. Your aligners will be custom-created to the exact shape of your child’s teeth. You should continue to bring your child back for visits at least once every six months for the duration of treatment.

Is getting aligners faster than getting braces?

Not necessarily. Clear aligners are not usually fabricated on-site, and delivery from the manufacturer can take 4-6 weeks. Combined with the initial scans, placing attachments, and education on how to properly wear and care for them, aligners can take as long as braces.

How will my child feel after getting clear aligners?

As with anything new, your child can expect an adjustment period of about a week as it gets used to the aligners. Mild discomfort is common for the first few days. This is temporary and can be relieved by rinsing with warm salt water or by taking an OTC pain reliever.
